Shikwane Makoga is a Junior Researcher in the IEJ’s Basic Income Project. His work focuses on the social impacts of technological advancements in the provision of social protection. Shikwane previously worked in the IEJ’s G20 Project, focusing on civil society support and fostering multilateral collaboration to address global challenges. He brings a dynamic blend of legal expertise, policy insight and grassroots activism to his work. Prior to joining the IEJ, Shikwane worked in the legal space, focusing on IT contracting and data protection compliance. Shikwane is passionate about student activism and community mobilisation. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies and International Relations from the University of the Witwatersrand. Currently, he is a Master of Law candidate specialising in International Economic Law.
