In October 2018, South Africa appeared before the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, which monitors the  implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights by its States parties. Many civil society groups were present to make submissions. The Institute for Economic Justice made a joint submission with SECTION27 and CESR.
