This factsheet, produced by the Climate Ambition to Accountability Project, of which IEJ is a lead partner, aims to provide insight into:
- The main findings of the recent report, “Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of climate change”, published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC);
- The implications of these findings for communities across South Africa with a particular focus on the youth, women, and vulnerable groups; and
- Whether the South African Climate Change Bill, given the findings of the IPCC report, is fit-for-purpose.
The Climate Ambition to Accountability Project is a partnership between WWF South Africa, the South African Climate Action Network (SACAN) and the Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ). This work is possible with funding support from the European Union.
